Recommendation from Rosie (New Zealand)

Recommendation from Rosie

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek

I have just completed a 26 days trek in the Kanchenjunga area, Eastern part of Nepal, with Gyan Katuwal, known to us as GB Katuwal, as our Guide/sirdar. I was a member of a 6-person group conducting engineering, health, and education work for the Kanchenjunga School Project. The organization of our group was complex. We carried extra supplies for the project and spent several days working along the route. GB speaks English, assisted with the project work, provided language translation during our workdays, and ensured that we were well supported in each village.

GB had a strong sense of responsibility towards our group and supported each person individually. I personally experienced his support during a strenuous climb of Deorali Danda early in the trek. His manner is professional and he is respectful of his clients, always reliable, and quietly good company. He is honest and forthright, an essential quality in a guide/sirdar. In turn, GB is respected by the porters, kitchen staff, and assistant guides. He managed the team very well to accommodate our needs. I happily recommend GB Katuwal as a Guide/sirdar. I can answer, questions and confirm this reference by return email. Rosie Knight. New Zealand. Email:-Rosie.knight@xtra.co.NZ

Unforgettable Memory of My Life. April 2015.

It is an unforgettable memory of my lifetime. We did Annapurna Circuit Trek in April 2015. We safely came back to Kathmandu. Our guests are from New Zealand. The weather was perfect, with beautiful scenery. Firstly, We drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar then on the second day we go to Chame (district headquarter of Manang). From Chame, we start trekking to Annapurna circuit Thorong la pass 5416m. which is known as the highest pass in the world. Annapurna region trek is very popular over the world. Annapurna Region is very famous for its natural and cultural heritage and for adventure trekking in Nepal with great Himalayan panorama, Wildlife, Flora, and fauna. When we stay at churi leader 4200m, the weather was going wrong. In the morning big cloudy, and a little bit of snow.

The Hard Day in My Life

After breakfast, We start our walk to Thorong high camp hotel. after a few hours, the weather was going better. we are 4 people in our group. when we arrived at throng Phedi 4530m. we ate some soup and bread after that some rest for the climb too steep uphill to Thorong High Camp Hotel. when we were walking near a high camp at about 4785m. on a mid-day at 11:55 o'clock that time large Earthquake in Nepal. Many people walk on the way to Thorong La Pass.

Earthquake 2015 in Annapurna
Avalanche
we saw a big avalanche on another side of us, lots of rocks falling down with a big sound. It is difficult to explain it, but we were safe. when we arrived at the throng high camp hotel we feel safer. after the earthquake no telephone, no television, and no FM radio to hear the news. we every, all guests, the Nepali guide, the porter, and the hotel staff were very worried about family neighbors, and friends. we can't eat dinner and difficult to sleep. The next day, early in the morning we start walking to Thorong La Pass with a headlamp.
When we arrived in Muktinath
We saw many people crying. we heard thousands of thousand of people are dead and more than 10,000 people are injured. after this news our guest like to cancel the trek then we drive to Jomsom. most people were staying on open ground, difficult to get a room at the hotel. there is no big problem in Jomsom by an earthquake but people are scared about earthquakes again. we stay one night at Jomsom. The next day we drive to Pokhara via Beni.
Unforgettable Memory of Life
At Pokhara, there was no big problem, no houses were damaged we heard 2 people dead in Pokhara by Earthquake. we heard the terrible news about Kathmandu and around Kathmandu. our guests they like to stay 2 more nights in Pokhara for safe. we drive to Kathmandu. the scenery was terrible many houses collapsed and were damaged. I am crying to see this. I can't explain it with my broken heart.

Many very old and historical Temple was also fully damaged in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Patan, and out of Kathmandu valley. we lose our historical and cultural heritage from this massive earthquake. In this situation, I want to inform you, the Annapurna region trek is safe for trekking after the massive earthquake in Nepal. thank you. for more details please contact:-gbkatuwal@gmail.com
