Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek
"Gyan guided me and my friend on the Kanchenjunga tea house trek in Oct/Nov. 2014. There are thousands of trekking companies offering their services in Nepal and there is a huge variation in the quality and experience of the guides. I feel extremely lucky to have found Gyan, He has a wide experience of all the trekking routes of Nepal, from unsupported tea house treks to fully assisted camping treks, and has developed a detailed knowledge, not only of the routes and the terrain but also of the many different cultures and villages that are experienced along the way. He obviously has many contacts in the villages and is obviously well-liked by the local people and has good communication and language skills He always seemed to find us good accommodation and food, even when forced to change plans at short notice when my friend developed some health problems. Our trek was classed as very strenuous and was made more so by the fact that we needed to complete it in a shorter period than recommended, which meant we would be gaining altitude (up to 4800 m ) rapidly. Despite this, his choice of route allowed us to pace our ascent and we had no problems with altitude acclimatization. Indeed his excellent judgment allowed us to have an extra day at South Base Camp enabling us to see Kanchenjunga in perfect cloudless
conditions.
He has a calm, gentle manner and has impeccable manners. He is friendly and engaging and is always good company. He is never overbearing or intrusive.
His ability to adapt to circumstances and his sound judgment based on many years of experience inspires confidence and at no time did I feel unsafe under his
guidance.
I have no hesitation in recommending Gyan. I am extremely grateful to him for facilitating the perfect Kanchenjunga experience and I could not imagine a better
guide."
